New to Pinterest but no idea how to effectively drive traffic from Pinterest? Or you have frustrations about no followers and no access to popular boards? Here, I will share my top 10 secret tips how I got 200 followers and accepted to more than 20 popular group boards!
While I was reading the articles from people who already got a big success on Pinterest, I got so frustrated! They are already successful and that does not really motivate me since I just joined Pinterest.
In addition, Pinterest Algorithm is very different since Feb 2020. Therefore, I would like to share top 10 tips to get good results on Pinterest for Pinterest newbies. I will keep sharing my Pinterest experience on my blog, so we can grow together!
Table of Contents
#1 Join popular group boards
If you just started, I have to say it is really difficult to join group boards that already have 10,000+ members.
Via one Pinterest online course, I got a list of popular boards to join and unfortunately, I was not accepted to any of them. I was so frustrated because I did not know about the Pinterest game and one of the reasons to join the course was the group board list!
Then, how did I join the group boards? I found a way, a smart way to join.
- Find Pinterest profiles meet the following 2 conditions:
1) in your niche
2) has around 100K-200K unique viewers - Check what group boards they have been accepted!
- Then request to join the group boards.
This way, the chances you got accepted will be much higher! This strategy works the best for me, if you are struggling to be part of group board, you can try my strategy!
Please keep in mind…
I was too active in requesting to join new group boards when I just joined Pinterest. I sent out 5 messages per day for 3 days and then my account got suspended!
Therefore, I advise you to send out group boards request only once per week, so your account will not get suspended.
#2 How to get followers: Pin like crazy and follow people in your niche.
I didn’t know the importance of pinning other people’s content. If you pin other people’s content, people who created the pin will notice and they might follow you. This is a good way to get noticed.
How I check who to follow?
Follow people:
1) who are popular and have many followers in your niche
2) who are not that popular yet but are willing to follow you back. Check if they follow back!
Below is the example that you see clearly Canada Crossroads do follow for follow!
If you follow me, of course, I will follow you back, just comment on this post!
Follow each other, but please keep in mind that…
It is important to follow Pinterest account with good quality content, but normally those account owners will not follow you back! Therefore, I keep 70:30 ratio. 70% of the accounts that I follow already have high quality content and the remaining 30% of accounts that I follow is for follow for follow purpose!
#3 Create new pins consistently!
Make sure you upload new pins every day, but no need to create new pins every day yourself but schedule them to create new pins each day. This way, Pinterest knows you consistently create new content on a daily basis, which is good for the Pinterest Algorithm.
#4 Spend at least 15 minutes per day on Pinterest yourself!
This is also good for Pinterest Algorithms. If you run a Pinterest company yourself, of course, you would prefer people who actually use Pinterest, right? I have a full time job, but I always use Pinterest while I wait for the bus for work or during lunch time.
#5 Tailwind is everything.
If you join Tailwind, you get the chance to join tribes, where people who are already popular on Pinterest will share your content! It is important if you want your pins to go viral on Pinterest! In addition, many Pins are in good design and good quality.
I first did not believe the importance of Tailwind. In order to save money, I joined many Pinterest repin Facebook group. I thought people recommend Tailwind just to get commission.
Later, I realized that my pins did not go viral and pins are in poor design via repin Facebook group and these repin Facebook group cannot guarantee that everyone is the thread repin the content back.
However, Tailwind tribe can do that! My pins went viral after joined Tailwind Tribe and you can get the high rating Tailwind Tribe below.
Join Tailwind today! It is definitely a good choice!
#6 Repin from others like crazy!
As mentioned, if you pin other people’s content, people who created the pin will notice and they might follow you.
#7 Interval each pin of your own and don’t set the same intervals for all.
What does that mean? Everyone knows that you need to set the intervals at Tailwind scheduling. However, if you schedule all your pins to different boards at the same time and set exactly the same intervals, trust me, you are making a big mistake.
This way, you are pinning multiple contents to the same group boards at the same time! Most of the group boards are against that, they don’t allow sharing content to the boards multiple times per day.
#8 Create Eye catching pins!
On Pinterest, Pin design is everything. It is important to have eye catching pins! If you are not good at this but still want to use Pinterest to drive traffic, highly recommend you to buy Pin templates! It saves you a lot of time and effort!
#9 Have more than 1 niche in case something goes wrong
I am in the travel niche and as you know COVID 19 hit us, travel bloggers, HARD! I bet many travel bloggers learnt this during the lockdown period, which is why I am also creating this content!
#10 !Pinterest suspension?
Yes, this can happen! I had that experience and Pinterest suspended my account more than 3 times in a week and it lasted for 2 weeks. That’s very frustrating!
If unfortunately, your account got suspended mistakenly. Do not panic! If you just start your Pinterest account, it is easy to get your account back. Follow the below instructions:
- Do not panic! Do not panic! Do not panic! I need to say 3 times because it is very important.
- Do not send the email to Pinterest customer service team right away. You need to calm down first!
- Read Pinterest Community Guidelines carefully and see if you have violated the rule.
If yes and it is your first time that the account got suspended, just admit it in your email and say you are new to Pinterest and you will follow the rules in the future. If not, tell the Pinterest team they have made a mistake and please give your account back in a nice way.
- As for how to write the email, please read this post, it has the template for you and I followed it to get my account back!
- Once you get your account back, start pinning from 10 pins a day, and then slowly increase the frequency. This is because once you get suspended, it’s much easier to get suspended again.
In my personal experience, the Pinterest team will give your account back in 1-3 working days. If your account has never got suspended, lucky you! However, I still highly recommended you to read Pinterest community rules and make sure you don’t violate any of them. It is very frustrating if they suspend your account.
These are my personal experiences with Pinterest! I will update them on a regular basis! Any questions, feel free to comment! If you would like to get my personal recommendation for Tribe on Tailwind, grab it via this link!
